Champagne Delamotte is the sixth oldest Champagne house in the region. Located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, Delamotte was one of the first producers to recognize this region for its potential to grow grapes of superb quality. Delamotte wines are made with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes sourced exclusively from Côte des Blancs grand cru vineyards from families who have worked with the winery for multiple generations. It is considered a small house, benefitting from a smaller production, which allows the terroir of the vineyards to be expressed, as well as the ability to blend the wines from these vineyards to produce only exceptional Champagne. Sister house and contiguous to Champagne Salon, Delamotte produces no more than 50,000 cases annually, ensuring that the vineyards of Delamotte dominate the expression of its wines, defining the house’s elegant, mineral style.

Delamotte's NV Brut Blanc de Blancs incorporates fruit from Mesnil as well as Avize, Cramant and Oger, and spends four years on its bottle lees. Persian melon, raw almond and apple are garlanded with orange blossom and peony and tinged with orange rind and chalk. The seven grams of residual sugar are very supportive of the wine's succulent overall personality, even though one might expect a less effusive fruit expression from the vintage on which this is based. There is the refinement of texture and buoyancy here that seem - along with pure fruit and mouthwatering salinity - to be common characteristics of Delamotte cuvees. I would expect this fine value to perform admirably for at least 3-4 years. Wine Advocate 92+
