Description

Gentle Folk are another of the young brigade redefining the Adelaide Hills wine region. In winemaker Gareth Belton’s words, “We don’t like to define our styles or winemaking techniques, we just make wine in the way we feel is right for the grapes and season and most importantly, with maximum drinkability and enjoyment in mind.” the wines are naturally made but remain refreshing and crowd-pleasing, and considering their tiny production are excellent value.

The Village Pinot Noir was created by Gareth Belton as a spring release to complement his single vineyard Pinot Noir releases. The fruit is taken from the Scary Gully vineyard, a mix of multiple blocks and clones from the farm. Fermented as whole bunches for a week before being pressed off to old oak, this is Pinot stripped back to bare. It’s made with no additions in search of raw ‘Pinosity’ and ultimate drinking pleasure. This is a softly spoken wine of quiet beauty. It’s light and feathery and a breath of fresh air for Pinot Noir fans all over.
