Description

Legend of Mornington Peninsula & award-wining winery, this impressive family owned winery produces some of the best Chardonnays & Pinot Noirs in Australia. Richard McIntyre is a grape grower and winemaker with 30 years’ experience under his belt. Daughter, Kate McIntyre MW (The 1st Female Master of Wine of the southern hemisphere!), is involved both in the marketing and the production sides. The oldest vines now are chardonnay planted in 1982, and these vines produce the impeccable fruit that goes to The Moorooduc McIntyre Chardonnay. The mature vines are dry-grown and the winemaking philosophy is to produce top quality fruit that reflects the site’s terroir, and to use simple, natural winemaking, such as wild yeast ferments (in new and old oak for the whites), natural malolactic fermentations and minimal intervention with regards to fining and filtration, to allow the character of the fruit and the vineyard to shine through in the wine.
