Description

Philippe Pacalet is a vigneron of the young generation in Burgundy. He was formerly estate manager at the Domaine Prieuré Roch (until 1999), he now rents a collection of vineyard plots in the Beaune area and expertly vinifies his natural wines in 3 differents chais a few kilometers from each other. His wines are now widely appreciated, in France and abroad .

A ripe mix of high-toned, fresh and restrained red berry fruit, lavender, spice and plenty of stone nuances precedes the intensely earthy and vibrant flavors that culminate in a dry, clean, balanced and exceptionally persistent finish. This is very Gevrey in character and while there is good power, the natural finesse of Perrière is very much in evidence. One other aspect that I very much admire is the sense of underlying tension which serves to considerably enhance the appeal of this slightly austere effort. AM 92
