Description
Philippe Pacalet is a vigneron of the young generation in Burgundy. He was formerly estate manager at the Domaine Prieuré Roch (until 1999), he now rents a collection of vineyard plots in the Beaune area and expertly vinifies his natural wines in 3 differents chais a few kilometers from each other. His wines are now widely appreciated, in France and abroad .
Here there are no such issues as there is admirably purity to the elegant and more complex nose that combines notes of red and dark currant, iron-infused earth, game and plenty of underbrush character. There is superb intensity to the delicious and overtly muscular middle weight plus flavors that deliver excellent depth and persistence on the mildly austere finish. This firmly structured effort is both very Gevrey and very Lavaut and will need at least a decade of cellar time to arrive at its apogee.
