Description

Jean-René Germanier is regarded by many as one of Switzerland’s top wine producers. Founded in 1886, making it one of the oldest Swiss wineries, this family owned company is now headed by 3rd generation Jean-René and his nephew Gilles Besse. The boutique winery produces unique, award-winning wines such as Cayas, Mitis and Cornalin Champmarais which are enjoyed at the best tables in Europe.

The 2017 Pinot Noir de Vex Clos de la Couta opens with a pure, warm and herbal/floral, very elegant and refined bouquet of lovely ripe and sweet berry aromas with plummy notes. Unique aromas. On the palate, this is an elegant, refined and silky-textured Pinot with refreshing mineral acidity and fine grape tannins. Still somewhat drying on the finish, this is a generous, warm and elegant Pinot Noir from a spectacular place. Aged in barriques for 18 months, the Clos de la Couta is characterized by red rather than dark fruits and shows a certain sweetness or a level of ripeness that is definitely not from a cool climate. 13.6% alcohol. 1,400 bottles produced.
