Description

The Schramsberg property was originally planted in 1862 by German immigrant Jacob Schram, and is one of the oldest in the USA. In 1964 - Jack and Jamie Davies revived the historic Napa Valley property, this was also the year their youngest of three sons, Hugh Davies was born. Their 1969 Schramsberg Blanc de blancs was used in the 1972 Toast to Peace by President Nixon to Premier Zhou En Lai, and often has been used in the White House for celebrations since then. Hugh Davies now proudly represents the famous wines and has moved from being General Manager and wine maker, to President and CEO. He now lives on the property with his 3 sons! Schramsberg sparkling wines are produced from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes grown in a broad array of cool-climate North Coast vineyards, located in Napa, Mendocino, Sonoma and Marin counties. The winemakers draw from more than 90 individual vineyards to create over 200 base wines each year. These wines are then artfully blended to create Schramsberg’s distinctive sparkling wines.

With serious intentions, this has a delicate pink hue and floralstrawberry and spicy yeast roll aromas. The flavors show good focus, offering raspberry, Gala apple, ginger and fig flavors. Wine Spectator 90
