Description

From vines more than forty years old, on stony limestone soils, Pascal Cotat's 2015 Sancerre La Grande Côte is very clear and intense on the nose, but also pure and mineral—mixing floral, nutty and white fruit aromas with flinty flavors of crushed stones. Full-bodied, very mineral and elegant on the palate, with lots of citrus flavors and a remarkable finesse, this is a complex, firmly structured Sancerre. It has a long and salty, pure and very elegant finish. Fermented and aged for eight months in used barriques, this wine has been bottled without fining and filtration. Although La Grande Côte is aromatically not that complex and doesn't make your mouth water like the Monts Damnés, it reveals a very promising length. In fact, the 2014 is still very young and tight, and should be aged for another 3-4 years. Wine Advocate 93+ (2014)
