The 2015 Assyrtiko is unoaked and comes in at 12.7% alcohol. This cult-ish grape is popping everywhere in Greece, it seems, but these are 30-year-old vines. This tightly wound white is wonderfully focused, gripping the palate and lingering nicely. Elegant but concentrated, it is very persistent, too. It has a fresh feel, with that crisp, acidic edge and a hint of spice, too. It will be interesting to see how well this ages, but it doesn't seem even to be at peak at the moment. This is well done. If it holds well, it might even be entitled to an uptick. This demonstrates yet again this issue that nice Assyrtiko isn't just for Santorini any more.Wine Advocate 90
