The Rivetti brothers of La Spinetta have revolutionized the conception of long-ageing and gruesomely tannic Piedmont wines. Their range of Barolo, Barbarescos and Barberas are powerful yet forward and fruity. The modern style of their wines certainly makes Nebbiolos from the northwest corner of Italy much more approachable when young.

The 2015 Chardonnay Lidia Limited Edition is intentionally executed according to a Burgundian blueprint. This wine is intended to withstand some moderate cellar aging, and it offers a creamy, layered mouthfeel even at this young stage. It goes through its primary and malolactic fermentations in oak and is aged in a combination of large casks and neutral barrique. The vines were planted in 1993. Some 4,000 bottles were made.
