Description

Little needs to be said when the American critic Robert Parker’s first winery to visit in Australia is Rick Burge’s humble “cellar door.” Located in the famous Barossa Valley, Rick makes no more than 3,000 cases of wines a year. All grapes are estate-grown and his wines are surprisingly “non-Parker” style. Recent tastings of Burge Family’s wines confirmed that they are fresh and packed with fruit but unexpectedly light on its feet. This range of boutique wine is as elegant as Barossa can get.

Medium garnet in color, the 2009 G3 is a blend of 51% Shiraz, 36% Grenache and 13% Mourvedre and displays a fragrant nose of kirsch, potpourri, dried cranberries and cinnamon stick with hints of Ceylon tea and Mandarin orange peel. Medium to full-bodied and packed with tons of expressive warm red berry and spice flavors, it has a medium level of velvety tannins, crisp acid and a long finish. Drink it now to 2019+.
