JOHN DUVAL was the Chief Winemaker at Penfolds from 1986 - 2002, entrusted to make some of Australia's most iconic wines. In 1989, he was named International Winemaker of the Year at the UK’s 1989 International Wine & Spirit Competition. In 1991, and again in 2000, he was named Red Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine Challenge in London. Duval was the custodian of Grange for 16 years and served Penfolds for 29 years. His work earned Grange numerous awards during his tenure and in the process Duval became one of the most respected winemakers in Australia.
After 29 years as a winemaker with Penfolds, he established his eponymous brand in 2003 and is focused on crafting wines from old-vine Barossa fruit. The winery is rated 5 Stars by James Halliday.
