Agrapart is a serious grower owning ten hectares at Avize, Cramant, Oger and Oiry, producing storable wines vinified in oak barrels of varying sizes. The wines are sometimes a bit rustic, but rich in extracts and needing time to develop fully. As much as 60% goes on export. I fell especially for the Terroirs which is creamy and impressively intense with Cramant as its guiding star. Rounded, nutty and syrupy. With such a voluminous structure it ought to be designated as vintage. The pure weight of the 50+ year-old vines comes through in the 2006 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru L’Avizoise.

Disgorged in May 2019 with three grams per liter dosage after tirage under natural cork, the 2013 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Avizoise is showing beautifully, unwinding in the glass with notes of citrus oil, English walnuts, crisp green apple, freshly baked bread and wet stones. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly enveloping but incisive, it's deep and concentrated, with a racy spine of acidity and a vinous but tightly wound profile. If the 2013 is a little more acid-driven than the 2012, it's also finer-boned and a touch less muscular, rendering it marginally more open out of the gates. Wine Advocate 95+
