This is a pleasant surprise after what must have been a fault bottle back in 2007. There is good intensity on the nose with dark berries, fruitcake and a touch of ox-blood. Smooth on the entry with fine structure, there is a palpable edgy quality to this Duffau with blueberry and liquorice tinged with brine on the sinewy finish. Very good grip, this is an impressive ’01. Tasted November 2010.Wine Advocate 91
