Description

With an impressive collection of vineyard holdings across the best vineyard sites in Madiran, Alain Brumont has emerged as the quality standard bearer in his appellation. He is a great believer in the native Tannat grape variety, which many growers had abandoned due its perceived “rusticity”. Improvements in the vineyards have led to lower yields of better quality fruit and Alain has refined the oak treatment in the cellar, with the top cuvees aged in 100% new oak.

These are powerful, structured wines of great character. Powerful and well-structured red, with dark plum, smoke and dark cherry flavors, and loads of meat and coffee notes. Full-bodied, with licorice and mocha elements on the long, long finish. Best from 2004 through 2007. WS93 (2000)
