The founder of Ca’ del Bosco, Maurizio Zanella, has been one of the foremost advocates of the Franciacorta region. His work was fundamental to the area’s receipt of the DOCG designation for its sparkling wines, and he has also endeavored to secure an official designation—Curtefranca—to represent the area’s still wine production. Regarded as one of Franciacorta’s foremost practitioners, Ca’ del Bosco produces a full range of sparkling wines as well as still wines utilizing both the principal international varieties and those indigenous to the area.

Among the Franciacortas from Ca' del Bosco this is the one that best expresses the character of the territory and the particularities that each year brings. Weather always writes unpredictable stories and their finales are the products of love between man and earth. Since 1978 the Vintage Collection Brut has been made solely in the finest years. The result of careful vinification but above all of lengthy refinement that enhances its characteristics: four years of aging on yeasts. A unique Franciacorta, structured, full-bodied, intense and persistent. A wine for big occasions, and especially fine with haute cuisine seafood.

The 2009 Franciacorta Millesimato Vintage Collection Brut (disgorged in the spring of 2013) is comprised of 55% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Bianco and 30% Pinot Nero. This classic Franciacorta from the fruit-forward 2009 vintage opens to opulent apricot and peach with plenty of toasted nut and butter brioche at the back. The wine shows a luminous golden hue and fine, persistent perlage that doesn’t diminish in intensity even as the wine warms in the glass. The best part, however, is the length this wine shows on the finish and its exceptionally silky mouthfeel. A tart hint of crushed mineral adds even more dimension. Drink: 2014-2019.
