This has a very surprising, overtly savoury nose with a touch of cooked meats and chestnuts. Open-knit, very expressive with a Rhone-like quality to it. A medium-bodied palate with slightly coarse tannins, a rustic structure but not without charm and some lovely wild strawberry and cherry fruit. Lower acidity than other vintages. Firm, again quite foursquare finish with moderate length. Conservative Saint Estephe: solid and correct but becoming more elegant with aeration. Drink 2010-2016. Wine Advocate 88
