Description

Phil Sexton named his Yarra Valley winery after the John Coltrane album of that name. It also recognizes the giant step he made when he sold his winery in Margaret River to move to Victoria. The winemaking philosophy is to focus exclusively on the distinctive expression of single vineyard sites in the Yarra Valley, with the emphasis on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The winery is designed to work on gravity flow and minimal intervention. Visitors to the cellar door can also enjoy the wines at their acclaimed bistro.

Lovely lemon curd, white peach and mandarin-peel notes open on the nose of the 2013 Tarraford Vineyard Chardonnay with nuances of flint, ginger and cedar. Medium-bodied, it fills the palate with lively citrus and stone fruit flavors supported by a crisp spine of acid before finishing long and minerally. Wine Advocate 92
