Phil Sexton named his Yarra Valley winery after the John Coltrane album of that name. It also recognizes the giant step he made when he sold his winery in Margaret River to move to Victoria. The winemaking philosophy is to focus exclusively on the distinctive expression of single vineyard sites in the Yarra Valley, with the emphasis on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The winery is designed to work on gravity flow and minimal intervention. Visitors to the cellar door can also enjoy the wines at their acclaimed bistro.

The ruby-hued 2017 Pinot Noir is a light-bodied, easy-drinking wine. Bright cherry and red currant fruit picks up herbal notes (40% of the wine was vinified as whole clusters), while a short aging period in used oak means the unencumbered fruit shines. This pretty, red-fruited wine should drink well for a few years. Wine Advocate 88 (2017)
