Description
This has a rather strange nose that is lacking some focus and harmony. There is certainly a herbaceous element coming through with touches of green leaves and tobacco but there is also an underlying ripeness with aromas of red cherries and creme de menthe. But they sit on opposite sides of the bouquet refusing to talk. Coming back after 15 minutes there is no change. I prefer the palate to the nose: fine fleshy fruit, good structure and backbone, conservative and perhaps straight-laced but with good definition on the sappy, redcurrant and tobacco infused finish. Drinking now although I am sure it has several years remaining on its plateau.
